A remarkable adventure awaits in the heart of Quebec’s Outaouais region, beckoning those who seek a deeper connection with the great Canadian wilderness. Parc Oméga, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, opened its doors in May to provide an extraordinary experience: a night amidst the cohabitation of wolves and bears. In the shadow of the rugged Outaouais Mountains, the park introduces 13 brand-new immersive accommodations, setting the stage for an unforgettable wildlife encounter.

Guests are treated to breathtaking vistas, allowing them to truly appreciate the majesty of the natural world. But a visit to Park Oméga is about more than just the accommodations. You become an integral part of a vibrant ecosystem when you stay there.

The overnight experience ’includes full-day park access, allowing you to traverse the famous 12-kilometre car route, where you’ll come face-to-face with a menagerie of wildlife from the Northern Hemisphere.

Upon arrival at Parc Oméga, our group was greeted by a spacious, modern, and immaculately clean house, a welcoming prelude to a comfortable overnight stay. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to enjoy a delightful dinner with large windows framing our view. Our attention was quickly captivated by the motion of grey wolves outside.

ABOVE: In September, Parc Omega opened the two-story Wolves and Bears Suite.

We were treated to an awe-inspiring spectacle after rushing upstairs to the balcony attached to one of the cozy upper-level bedrooms. Four wolves darted gracefully across the backdrop of a cascading waterfall set against the vibrant hues of autumn leaves.

As the morning sun illuminated our backyard, we woke up to the sounds of nature and went down to the wolf packs to watch the daily feeding of the park’s wolves and black bears. A knowledgeable and friendly Park Oméga employee was on hand to provide intriguing insights about the animals as they were offered their morning sustenance – meat for the wolves and carrots for the bears.

Watching the feeding, it was hard to see how wolves and bears could be a threat in nature. They were charming and endearing to watch.

The adventure continued as we embarked on the famous 12-kilometre trail, interacting with the park’s friendly population of various deer species. As we handed out carrots through the car windows, the magnificent creatures approached, sticking their heads right into the car.

Leaving Parc Oméga, we departed with a newfound appreciation for the natural world. It’s evident that the animals at Park Oméga are not only cared for; they thrive in expansive enclosures designed to mimic their natural habitats. Spending the morning searching for wolves and the afternoon feeding deer awoke a childlike wonder within us.

Parc Oméga invites all ages to delve into Canada’s wildlife in its purest form. From wolves and black bears to moose, elk, beavers, bison, and more, it’s a comprehensive introduction to the rich fauna that calls this land home.

As the sun sets on your day, you can settle into your accommodation, whether a cozy prospector tent, a wi-tente, or a cabin perched on stilts nestled into the park’s heart. As the night unfolds, you will have the unique opportunity to hear the hauntingly beautiful howl of wolves as they traverse the forest, reaffirming your connection with the untamed wilderness.

Parc Oméga is a testament to the beauty and wonder of the natural world, offering a rare opportunity to connect with the wildlife of Canada in a unique and immersive way.
